e-Transfer Payment Method add-on for CS-Cart

Accept bank e-transfers without credit card processing fees — worldwide

e-Transfer Payment Method lets you take payment straight from your customer’s bank instead of going through a credit card company. Your customer sends you a bank-to-bank transfer at checkout (Interac e-Transfer in Canada, Zelle in the USA, PayID in Australia, PayNow in Singapore, UPI in India, and similar services in many other countries). You get the money in your bank, mark the order as Paid, and keep the 2–3% that would have gone to Visa or Mastercard.

Built for store owners tired of losing a slice of every sale to card fees, and for shoppers who prefer paying straight from their bank. A quick example: a customer picks e-Transfer at checkout and enters the email (or mobile number) they’ll send from; the order is placed and moved to “e-Transfer sent”. They open their bank app and send you the order total. You get the transfer, enter the transaction ID in the admin, and the order jumps to Paid — no card fees. Works on CS-Cart Store Builder and Multi-Vendor.

Which Countries This Works For

Works with any bank-to-bank instant transfer service where your customer can send money using an email address, mobile number, or account reference — for example:

  • Canada — Interac e-Transfer
  • USA — Zelle
  • Australia — PayID
  • Singapore — PayNow
  • Hong Kong — FPS (Faster Payment System)
  • India — UPI (Unified Payments Interface)
  • UK — Faster Payments / Pay by Bank
  • Eurozone — SEPA Instant Credit Transfer
  • Sweden — Swish · Norway — Vipps · Denmark & Finland — MobilePay
  • South Africa — PayShap
  • Any other country with a similar bank-to-bank instant transfer service

All you need is a bank account that can receive the transfer and a way for customers to identify who they’re sending to (email, mobile number, UPI ID, or bank reference). You pick the label customers see at checkout, and the add-on adapts to your market.

Key Features

  • No Credit Card Fees — money goes straight from the customer’s bank to yours
  • Works Globally — Interac, Zelle, PayID, PayNow, UPI, SEPA Instant, Swish, Vipps, MobilePay and similar services; just pick the label and recipient details for yours
  • Familiar Checkout — customers already know how to send a bank transfer from their own app; no new account to sign up for
  • Automatic Status Tracking — orders land at “e-Transfer sent” when placed and jump to “Paid” the moment you enter the transaction ID
  • Customer Profiles Remember — the sender detail they usually pay from is stored and pre-filled next time
  • Custom Payment Instructions — add your own checkout text (bank name, memo format, or anything specific to your service)
  • Three-Status Workflow — choose the status before payment, after you record the transaction ID, and when the auto-cancel cron cancels an unpaid order
  • Auto-Cancel Unpaid Orders — an optional cron cancels orders that stay unpaid past a number of days you choose
  • Duplicate Transaction Warning — if you enter the same transaction ID on two orders, the add-on warns you before saving
  • Currency-Aware Display — shoppers viewing your store in another currency see a note that the amount they send is in your store’s primary currency
  • Simple to Set Up — one payment method to configure and you’re live

How It Works

  1. Your customer picks e-Transfer at checkout and enters the sender detail they’ll send from (email, mobile, UPI ID, or bank account)
  2. Their order is placed and lands at your chosen “e-Transfer sent” status
  3. The customer opens their bank app and sends you the order total using their country’s transfer service, adding a memo or reference so you can match it faster
  4. You get the transfer in your bank; open the order in the admin when you’re ready to confirm
  5. Enter the transaction ID (and optionally the date and the company name from your statement)
  6. Save — the order moves to your “Paid” status automatically; a returning customer’s sender detail is pre-filled next time

What Customers See at Checkout

  • Clear instructions — “Send $X to [email protected]” (or your configured mobile number / UPI ID / bank account)
  • Your custom instructions, if you added any (bank name, memo format, etc.)
  • Their sender detail pre-filled if they’ve paid this way before
  • An optional memo/reference field so they can include their order number in the transfer
  • A currency reminder if they’re viewing your store in a different currency

If you haven’t set up your recipient details yet, customers see a clear “please contact us before paying” message instead of transfer instructions — so no one ever sends money into the void.

What Admins Do

  1. Open the order on Orders > View orders and find the “e-Transfer Transaction ID” section
  2. Wait until you see the transfer land in your bank account
  3. Enter the Transaction ID from the transfer notification or your statement (optionally the date and company name)
  4. Save — the order moves to Paid automatically and any status-change notifications go out

Entered the wrong ID? The form stays available even after the order is Paid, so you can correct it any time. A Pending e-Transfer Payments shortcut under the Orders menu shows every order awaiting confirmation — handy for a first-thing reconcile against your bank statement.

Requirements

  • CS-Cart Store Builder or Multi-Vendor (single or multiple storefronts) 4.6.3 or higher
  • PHP 7.4 or higher (tested up to PHP 8.3)
  • A bank account that can receive your country’s bank-to-bank instant transfer (Interac, Zelle, PayID, PayNow, UPI, SEPA Instant, Swish, Vipps, MobilePay, or similar)
  • A cron scheduler on your server if you want the optional auto-cancel feature

Installation

  1. Go to Add-ons > Manage add-ons, click Manual installation, and upload the addon zip file
  2. Activate the addon and enter the license key
  3. Go to Administration > Payment methods, add a payment method, name it for your market (e.g. “Interac e-Transfer”, “Zelle”, “PayID”, “UPI”, “Pay by Bank”), pick e-Transfer as the processor, fill in the settings (see below), and save

Configuration Options

SettingDescription
Payment method nameThe customer-facing name (the standard CS-Cart Name field) — set it to something familiar in your market
Recipient identifier typeWhat customers send to: email address, mobile number, UPI ID, or bank account reference; changes how the checkout instructions display
Recipient detailsThe actual email / mobile / UPI ID / bank reference shown at checkout; if blank, customers see a “please contact us before paying” message
Custom instructions (optional)Free-text shown below the “send money to” details (bank name, memo format, reference format, etc.)
Order status after the customer places the orderStatus a new e-Transfer order lands at before payment (default Open; many stores use a custom “e-Transfer sent”)
Order status after a Transaction ID is recordedStatus the order jumps to once you enter the transaction ID (default Paid; must differ from the first)
Order status when auto-cancelledStatus an order moves to when the auto-cancel cron cancels it (default Canceled; must differ from the two above)

Customer profile: an “e-Transfer Sender Details” field is added to profiles (editable by the customer in their account and by you in the admin) and is what gets pre-filled at checkout. Auto-cancel cron: to cancel unpaid orders after a set number of days, add the copy-ready CLI command shown on the payment method page to your server’s crontab — it runs only from the shell, so there is no URL to expose and no shared secret to manage.
