Smart Clearance Pricing puts your aging inventory on sale for you. When a product has been sitting on your shelf for too long, this add-on marks it down. Sits even longer? It marks it down more. When new stock comes in, the price goes back to normal on its own. Built for busy store owners who don’t have time to hunt for slow sellers every week — set the rules once and let it work every night.

A quick example: with the built-in rules, a product that has been in stock for 60 days gets 20% off. If it’s still there at 90 days, it drops to 40% off. When you restock it, the price bounces back to normal. Works on CS-Cart Store Builder and Multi-Vendor; on marketplaces each vendor’s catalog is kept separate.

Markdown Steps (Built-in Defaults)

You can change both the number of days and the discount percentage in the settings. The discount is capped at 95%, so a typo like “100” can’t turn your prices into zero.

How It Works

1. Once a night (or when you press “Run now”), the add-on looks at every product you’re selling
2. For each one it works out how long the product has been in stock — from the day it first came into stock (you can switch this to the day it was added to your store)
3. If it has sat long enough for the first markdown, its price drops by the first amount
4. If it’s been sitting even longer, the price drops again by the second amount
5. When you bring in new stock, the add-on notices right away, puts the price back to normal, and resets the timer — no waiting for tonight
6. Every price change is written to the history log so you can go back and see what happened

Restock & Manual-Price Safety

• Restock: the moment a product goes from zero stock to any positive amount, the timer starts over, the price returns to what you originally set, the product leaves the Clearance category, and a line is logged. Works for simple products and products with size/color options.
• You changed the price yourself: if you edit a discounted product’s price by hand, the add-on backs off — on the next run it sees the price no longer matches what it last set, decides you’ve taken over, and leaves that product alone from then on.

Requirements

• CS-Cart Store Builder or Multi-Vendor (single or multiple storefronts) 4.6.3 or higher
• PHP 7.4 or higher (tested up to PHP 8.3)
• A cron scheduler on your server (any standard cron or your host’s control-panel cron)

Installation

1. Go to Add-ons > Manage add-ons, click Manual installation, and upload the addon zip file
2. Activate the addon and enter the license key
3. Click Configure to review the settings, then set up a nightly cron job (see Cron below) or click Run now on the dashboard to try it out

Configuration Options

Skip a product: on the product edit page, tick “Never auto-discount this product”. Skip a vendor (Multi-Vendor): set the opt-out flag on the vendor’s company row and the add-on restores full prices and leaves their catalog alone. A Run now button and a browsable history log (with date/action/product filters) live on the add-on dashboard.
